Josh Skelton will return to the Michelin Le Mans Cup grid in 2023, racing with championship-winning team Nielsen Racing in LMP3 alongside teammate and fellow Brit, Tony Wells.
2023 will mark Josh’s third year racing in the highly competitive endurance championship and presents another opportunity for the young driver to continue his trajectory to become an endurance racing champion. With experience under his belt, a championship-winning team behind him and racing under the lucky number ‘7’, the odds are in his favour.
Looking ahead to the season, Josh comments:
“I’m really excited to announce that I will be teaming up with Nielsen Racing and Tony Wells for the 2023 MLMC championship. Nielsen and Tony have demonstrated in the past that they can challenge at the front of the field by taking the championship in 2021. We have one goal, and that’s to repeat that in 2023! I can’t wait to get started.”
Guy Smith, GSM Director, comments:
“Josh will return to the LMP3 grid of the Le Mans Cup this season, and following his multiple successes last year, we are certain Josh will be racing at the top of the pack. Over the years, Josh has continued to show sheer determination and is more focused than ever to secure those podium finishes and ultimately enhance his racing career.”
In his rookie year racing in the LMP3 class of the Michelin Le Mans Cup in 2021, Skelton secured his first victory in the final round at the infamous Spa-Francorchamps after developing his race craft throughout the season. The Briton made a comeback in 2022, this time with Racing Spirit of Lèman team. Improving upon his debut season, Josh finished sixth in the driver standings and attained multiple podiums at Le Mans, Monza and Spa.
Josh will head to Barcelona for testing on 18th April, with the first round of the Michelin Le Mans Cup taking place shortly after on 22nd April 2023.
