Race-winning duo launch Greenlight Sports Management to steer future generations of drivers to podium places

Greenlight Sports Management (GSM) is an exciting new force in the important motorsport sector of driver support and development.

With two promising young drivers already in its stable of talent, GSM is aiming to become a leader in the competitive field of driver development.

Uniquely equipped to provide world-class support for its clients GSM is founded by race-winning drivers, and with the interests of drivers at its core. The business is the brainchild of veteran racer and Le Mans winner Guy Smith and racing driver and BRDC SuperStars programme director Andy Meyrick.

The pair, hugely successful and experienced on track in their own right with numerous manufacture drives and wins to their names, are bringing their vast knowledge of the detailed workings of the motorsport sector to bear as they create what they confidently believe will quickly become the go-to management service for competitive drivers worldwide.

The new business is off to a flying start with the news that two new pro, works team drivers – Ben Barnicoat and Seb Morris – have committed their professional futures to GSM.

Ben, a McLaren Automotive driver, joined the McLaren GT Driver Academy in 2017 making the transition into GT Racing has competed and won on some of the biggest stages in motorsport. Alongside his McLaren duties, the talented 23-year-old recently drove and won in a one-off race at Mugello in Euroformula for Carlin.

He said: “I’m thrilled to be joining GSM. Both Guy and Andy have a wealth of experience at the top level of sportscar racing along with being great brand ambassadors to the manufacturers they drove for. I have no doubt I will benefit hugely from their guidance and support in my aim to establish myself as one of the best all-round sportscar drivers.”

Meanwhile Seb, 24, is a former British GT champion. Now a Bentley Motorsport Works Team driver he is competing in the GT World Challenge Europe with Team CMR for Bentley.

Seb commented: “With the combination of Andy and Guy’s vast experience managing drivers, driving for works teams themselves at the highest level of GT racing, topped off with their commercial expertise, I am really happy to sign with GSM. Having the combination of both Andy and Guy in my corner is absolutely unbeatable.”

The business founders bring their considerable experience and expertise to the venture, allied to the unique insight provided by them both having competed in, and succeeded in, high level motorsport.

Andy is a professional racing driver with 15 years’ experience driving for works teams such as Aston Martin and Bentley over his career to date. A current driver for United Autosports and JMW Motorsport, Andy is the director of the BRDC SuperStars programme as well as fulfilling the role of Performance Manager for Team UK, Motorsport UK’s elite driver programme responsible for driver management and coaching.

Guy is a professional racing driver with over 35 years’ experience in motorsport. Driving for brands such as Audi, Mazda and Bentley, Guy served as a Bentley brand ambassador for 17 years. Now passionate about finding and developing future talent, Guy has also successfully delivered several commercial contracts including contracting a title sponsor for a Formula One team.

Andy explained: “GSM has been created to identify, nurture and maximise driving talent on a local, regional and global basis. It has been set up by drivers, for drivers, and I know we are both hugely excited to be ensuring that the drivers in our care have the team and services that they need to maximise every opportunity.”
